Privacy Policy

Purpose

We are committed to respecting each person’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. We will only collect information that is directly relevant to safe and effective client support, including planning of services, funding arrangements, reporting requirements and evaluation of our services.  Personal information collected by KB Care is protected by the Information Privacy Act 2009.


Scope

This policy applies to all KB Care employees, in relation to the services provided to the clients we support.


Policy Statement

Whilst accessing our service, we support clients’ right to:

  • freedom from intrusion and public attention.
  • being treated with respect and dignity thereby reflecting their culture, community and providing a positive influence for their self-esteem.
  • an assurance that written and spoken information is protected from access and use by unauthorised persons.
  • access to their personal information that is held by the service.


Goal and Objectives

KB Care will not use personal information beyond the consent provided by each  person unless further consent is obtained or in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009.

Clients have the right to withdraw consent at any time.

KB Care shall provide support for clients to understand this policy using the language, mode of communication and terms that are most appropriate for the individual.

No information will be disclosed about a person without their express written consent (or the written consent of their legal guardian) except in the following circumstances:

  • non-identifying data required by funding bodies and by government departments for reporting purposes.
  • where disclosure is required or authorised by law (such as court subpoena or employees testifying under oath).
  • where disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen serious threat to the life or health of the client or others.
  • where it is reasonable that the disclosure is necessary for the enforcement of the criminal law or for a law imposing a fine or for the protection of public revenue; and
  • where information disclosed may only be used for the purpose for which it was disclosed.
